OUR ARCHIVE FOAP

The history of Arrow Park has primarily been a word-of-mouth story passed on from generation to generation. As is so often the case, there are assuredly certain elements have been lost in the telling, or particular stories that have not even been mentioned at all. In an effort to create a record for future generations, we have begun reviewing "what history we have" and invite any (and all) who would like to contribute to this archive to contact Arrow Park with information and resources you may have available.

In a digital age, we especially welcome any photographs, videos and literature (flyers, postcards, newspaper articles, etc.) that you may have found in family albums, shoeboxes and old attics. As well, we welcome the opportunity to record personal accounts of those that have been on the property throughout the decades. These are stories that should be told to children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

If you would like to talk about what you have available, we would love to listen. Please contact the Arrow Park Webmaster with any questions you may have.

a shared history

Throughout the past seventy-five years Arrow Park has been a place of meeting and celebration for all people that have "discovered" this quiet space in the foothills of the Catskills. Originally a place to escape from the city for the Schieffelin family during the early 1900s, Arrow Park (originally AROW Farm) grew from a small ethnic community to become a meeting place for people (literally thousands) of varied ethnic, cultural and political backgrounds. What all these people had in common was an appreciaion of nature, a sense of the dignity in daily life and an understanding that Arrow PArk is a place to enjoy those basic aspects of life. The mainstay of Arrow Park is grounded in that practicality and simplicity.

To appreciate Arrow Park, you must visit. If you are looking for a place for a special event, a getaway or retreat for a small group, or a venue that "doesn't fit the mold" of contemporary expectations – give us a call. We are aware of the quirkiness of our property and our history. We celebrate those things. We invite you to become a part of our story.
